NatuRose Immunity and Pigment

September 2005

NatuRose Natural Astaxanthin® is an effective coloring agent for the skin of Australian snapper, Pagrus auratus, at concentrations of 60 ppm, according to research conducted by Booth, et. al. published in 2004. Aquacultured species that have increased market value through improved skin pigmentation can be produced with natural pigmentation by using microalgae derived astaxanthin, such as NatuRose. This astaxanthin is not chemically synthesized or genetically altered in any way, making it the most natural form of astaxanthin on the market today.

Astaxanthin has also been shown to increase immunity of rainbow trout in studies conducted by Amar, et. al. in 2004. Among the humoral factors, serum alternative complement activity increased significantly in all astaxanthin supplemented groups when compared to the control.

Effective skin or flesh pigmentation coupled with improved immunity and stress resistance makes using a natural pigment source such as NatuRose Natural Astaxanthin a cost effective and attractive option. Try NatuRose for feeding your fish and get your pigmentation with the added value of immune system stimulation!
