Dr. Perricone loves Natural Astaxanthin

New York Times best-selling author Dr. Nicholas Perricone continues his love affair with Natural Astaxanthin in his new best selling book, “The Perricone Weight-Loss Diet.” Dr. Perricone devotes two full pages to the benefits of Natural Astaxanthin, as well as mentioning it in five additional places in the book. Dr. Perricone refers to Natural Astaxanthin as “red gold from the sea.” He points out that Astaxanthin helps to protect Vitamin A and Vitamin E and other carotenoids from oxidation. He states that it is the most powerful of all carotenoids and that it is superior to many other antioxidants because of its unique role in protecting the cell membrane. He later goes on to say that “Astaxanthin is an exceptional anti-inflammatory, making it an important component of the Perricone Weight-Loss Diet. Its ability to protect muscles and increase physical endurance is a wonderful asset for everyone needing to start and maintain a regular exercise program. I strongly recommend supplementation [with Astaxanthin].”

Dr. Perricone’s book lists the following “Astaxanthin Tips”:

  • “Because Astaxanthin has been proven to cross the blood-brain barrier, it offers protection to the brain, the central nervous system and the eyes.
  • It increases physical endurance and reduces muscle damage.
  • It reduces eye fatigue and improves visual acuity.
  • It provides wrinkle reduction by internal supplementation.
  • It reduces hyperpigmentation (better known as age spots).
  • It provides cytokine regulation; inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
  • It improves gastric health and reduces infection/inflammation of H. Pylori, spiral shaped bacteria that can damage stomach and duodenal tissue, causing ulcers.”

Dr. Perricone has spoken about Natural Astaxanthin twice now on the Oprah Winfrey show, and he devoted three pages to it in his first New York Times best-selling book, “The Perricone Promise.” In that book Dr. Perricone focused most of his attention on Natural Astaxanthin’s ability to protect and rejuvenate the skin as an “internal beauty supplement.” (Cyanotech Corporation holds a patent for the use of Natural Astaxanthin in the area of skin protection, as both an internal and external sunblock.)
